Workplace adjustments
Work out what changes would help you at work, and feel ready to ask for them.
Common adjustments
Small changes, big difference
Flexible hours
Changing start and finish times, extra breaks, or time off for appointments.
Where you work
Working from home some days, a quieter desk, or a workspace closer to facilities.
Equipment, software, and skills
An adapted chair or keyboard, screen reader software, a headset, or training.
Changes to duties
Swapping some tasks, adjusting targets, or a phased return after absence.
How we help
Before, during and after
- Think through what would actually make a difference for you.
- Plan what to say to your manager, and practise it if you’d like.
- Talk through what to do if the answer isn’t what you hoped.
- Check in afterwards to see how the changes are working.
Your rights
Where to get advice
We’re not legal advisers
We can share our experience, but we can’t give legal advice about your rights at work.
For that, organisations such as Acas and Citizens Advice offer free, impartial guidance.
Talk to someone who’s been there
Free and confidential. Get in touch whichever way feels easiest, and a peer support worker will get back to you.
