Support workers

How we help
From finding to securing
- We talk through what’s hardest for you at work, and identify the tools, training and support that could help — based on what has worked for others.
- We look for funded and co-funded options, and check which funding criteria apply to you.
- We help you gather evidence, such as medical records or letters, and complete applications.
- We check in at weeks 2 and 4 and months 2, 4 and 6 to make sure everything arrives and is working.
Funding criteria
Funded or co-funded
Government funding can pay for some or all of the cost of support at work. How much it covers depends on whether you’re self-employed, and on the size of the business you work for.
| Your situation | Who pays for equipment and adaptations |
|---|---|
| Self-employed just you | Funding can cover up to 100% of approved costs — there’s no co-funding to pay |
| Small employer 2–49 staff | Your employer pays nothing — funding can cover the full approved cost |
| Medium employer 50–249 staff | Co-funded: your employer pays the first £500, then 20% of the cost between £500 and £10,000 |
| Large employer 250+ staff | Co-funded: your employer pays the first £1,000, then 20% of the cost between £1,000 and £10,000 |
Co-funding by your employer applies to equipment and adaptations once you’ve been in your job for 6 weeks or more. If you’re new in your job, and for support workers, training and coaching, funding can cover up to 100% of approved costs. Your employer still has a duty to make reasonable adjustments. Criteria can change, so we always check the latest rules with you.
